Overview
In the present era of safe medication and strict patient monitoring in healthcare facilities, anaesthesia is considered the backbone of any surgery. Anaesthesiology provides services ranging from perioperative patient care to critical care, trauma care, pain management, and palliative care in any hospital.
This demands highly skilled and educated professionals in the anaesthesia care team. One of the vital members of this team is an allied healthcare worker who is trained in Operation Theatre (OT) and Anaesthesia Technology. He or she is a member of a multidisciplinary team in operating rooms who plays an active role in the smooth functioning of the operation theatre. They assist the anaesthesiologist and surgical team during the perioperative period, provide support to patients in the ICU, and play an important role in the advance preparation of equipment that is necessary for various anaesthesia and surgical procedures. He/she also looks after all the work and management of the OT, which includes managing the patients in and out of the operation theatre, the care and maintenance of all the OT equipment, as well as the management of the staff. Thus, there is an increased need for such qualified and trained professionals not only in India but also in other developing countries.
This course is aimed at satisfying this need. Our 4-year B.Sc. in OT and Anaesthesia Technology Program is fully geared up to generate professionals with extensive and elaborate knowledge in the fields of OT and Anaesthesia technology, both in theory and in practice.
